I am kind of at the other side of the whole "Holy Huddle" idea, where I think the Church is, by definition, a bunch of people that love Christ and spend time together encouraging one another. When God speaks about his church, that's who he is talking about. That said, I am for relationships with all people, irrespective of their feelings about Christ; a life lived only amongst Christians seems a bit pointless to me. Love your work :) Interesting.
